A bit of background in number theory which I have studied -> I have studied number theory from David M Burton's Elementary Number Theory and Apostol's Introduction to Analytic Number Theory and Modular Functions and Dirichlet Series in Number Theory.

Question - I am thinking to present one or two papers on Sieve Theory in my masters thesis. I will also present 3-4 other papers on Riemann Zeta Function which I have studied earlier . But I have no previous knowledge of Sieve Theory. Although I know about some books in sieve theory like Montgomery ( Topics in multiplicative number theory) , Friedlander and Iwaniac ( Sieve theory: A musical) but my Institute only accepts research papers in masters thesis. I am asking here for help as my master thesis advisor is not replying to my emails and so I think I should start studying by myself.

So, can any researcher here suggest 2 research papers which led to the beginning of the subject of sieve theory and could be studied by the background in number theory i have. I will study them and present them along with the papers I have already studied.

I have searched in past 4-5 days for some papers in different domains of ANT over web web pages of different professors and some other websites but it doesn't lead me much as I am just a beginner in this field (It's very hard without any guidance).

Thanks!!

I don't have any help in my university as no one is specialized in analytic number theory.

A Bit of background of mathematics which I have studied -> I have studied number theory from David M Burton and apostol introduction to analytic number theory and modular functions and dirichlet series in number theory.

The problem->

I started working on masters thesis as per guidance of a professor not of my Institute who abandoned me and didn't even bothered to tell. Research papers studied by me till now are 1.>by T Rivoal and W Zudilin whose title is "a note on odd zeta values".2.Zudilin" 1 of odd zeta values from Zeta 5 to Zeta 25 is irrational by elementary means". read 3. By Kieth Ball and T rivoal " Infinite number of odd Zeta values are irrational".

Now, I started studying paper " Irrationality of values of Riemann zeta Function " By W. Zudilin. It's a big 54 pages paper and I can't complete it in the given time. So, I am thinking to leave it ( although I studied 12 pages but I have some questions and there is no one I can ask but mostly due to the fact that it's a long paper than what can I cover ) .
