The discrete case you refer to is very interesting in its own right, as it's reminiscent of so-called semi-discrete optimal transport; most generative modelling problems in machine-learning can be reformulated along those lines. The integrals can then be computed via means of Laguerre diagrams (in 2/3D one can use Green's Theorem). | |
