Oct 4, 2013 at 21:36 comment added David Carchedi Just a small remark: You might not want to say something as strong as "what we should've defined topological spaces as" because, I (and I'm sure many others) wholeheartedly disagree. IMO, when you (as an algebraic topologist) say topological space, what you ought to be saying is "homotopy type". The concept of a topological space has many uses (manifolds, sheaves, analysis...)
