Marcus Pivato

My background is in pure mathematics, but my current main research interests are in theoretical economics, especially social choice theory, social welfare theory, decision theory, and game theory. I am also interested in certain questions in formal philosophy. Earlier in life, my main research focus was symbolic dynamics and ergodic theory (especially cellular automata). Here is a very brief bio:

  • Ph.D in Mathematics from University of Toronto (2001).
  • Professor of Mathematics at Trent University, Canada (2002-2014).
  • Professor of Economics at the Universit√© de Cergy-Pontoise, France (2014-present).
