So I really should have ordered the list in the more fun manner of N-U-T. As far as I know, there is no use made of the ordering of this trichotomy in the study of spherical varieties, at least not explicitly.
You might start with Seshadri's "Standard Monomial Theory -- A Historical Account" (in volume 2 of his collected works) or Lakshmibai/Littelmann/Magyar's "Standard Monomial Theory and Applications" (available online).
I don't see any reason that you should close this suggestion thread or those on other sites when MoMath opens. Presumably, even after the first exhibits go up you'll be changing the exhibits from time to time and occasionally want to design new ones.
I don't have anything insightful to say regarding the problem, but I always thouht that the 1x3 pieces were the submarine and the destroyer, and the 1x2 piece was a PT boat.
