What's the right object to categorify a braided tensor category?
Perhaps the more interesting question is, given a braided 2-category and a braided category, how does one justify the claim that one is a categorification of the other?

What examples of distributions should I keep in mind?
This is a good family of examples, but it seems more algebraic than analytic. The construction with P yields a D-module supported on the zero set of P.

Is there a good way to think of vanishing cycles and nearby cycles?
These are pretty good answers, and I guess a general intuitive picture is a tall order. I suppose one solution is to take an easy example and run through the literature while holding it in your head.

A single paper everyone should read?
I strongly disagree with the "must-read" label. Lockhart's article is mostly composed of half-truths and empty dramatic language.

Is there a theorem that says that there is always more than one way to "continue a finite sequence"?
I had always heard "pet peeve" used to describe behaviors rather than people. Unfortunately, the dictionary doesn't agree with my hairsplitting.
