Questions in which polynomials (single or several variables) play a key role. It is typically important that this tag is combined with other tags; polynomials appear in very different contexts. Please, use at least one of the top-level tags, such as nt.number-theory, co.combinatorics, ac.commutative-algebra, in addition to it. Also, note the more specific tags for some special types of polynomials, e.g., orthogonal-polynomials, symmetric-polynomials.

Mapping multivariate polynomial inequalities system to subspace

This is a classic problem in a field called Real Semialgebraic Geometry (RSG), an introduction to which can be found here. RSG deals with what are called "semialgebraic sets", which are essentially se …

asymptotic behaviour of a sum

Let $T_N(x)$ denote the largest term of the sum. Note that $$\frac{\log T_N(x)}{N}\leq \frac{\log (Z_N(x))}{N}\leq \frac{\log ((N/2)T_N(x))}{N}=\frac{\log T_N(x)}{N}+\frac{\log(N/2)}{N}$$ and that th …
