I think Ian Morrison wrote up some nice lectures in a book on Riemann surfaces from lectures at a conference at the trieste ICTM.
also there is a nice treatment of the chow space parametrizing space curves in volume 1 of the basic algebraic geometry book by Shafarevich.
oh yes, and there is a good discussion of the Hilbert scheme in Mumford's book on surfaces, and Gieseker has a book on moduli of curves based on lectures in montecatini, italy
