There is no such nontrivial algebra, because $\dim \mathfrak{su}(2) = 3$ and $\dim \mathfrak{su}(3) = 8$.

As Mariano pointed out (and I missed), considering $\mathfrak{su}(2) \subset \mathfrak{su}(3)$ works trivially.
