Mar 31, 2012 at 11:31 | comment | added | mathdonk | @Johannes: I don't say it's easier. I said it SEEMS to be easier. Dress' article looks like impossible to read for someone with no experience in this area.
Mar 31, 2012 at 9:23 | comment | added | Johannes Ebert | @Dan: I believe it is isites.harvard.edu/fs/docs/icb.topic880873.files/…
Mar 31, 2012 at 6:17 | comment | added | Dan Ramras | What text by Hopkins are we talking about here? (Is it available on-line?)
Mar 30, 2012 at 23:20 | comment | added | Johannes Ebert | @mathdonk: You got stuck at a point where Hopkins writes "From this one easily checks..." (if we are talking about the same text). Maybe you should have a look at Dress' paper, he gives full details. P.S.: why do you say that a proof is "much easier and simplified" if you fail to understand the main step?

Mar 30, 2012 at 21:29 | comment | added | John Klein | A good warm up would be Hopkins' definition of singular homology. I would then move on to Hopkins' definition of fibration. There must be a mistake in terminology: it should not be called, "Serre fibration." The correct terminology should be "Hopkin's fibration."
Mar 30, 2012 at 19:59 | comment | added | mathdonk | Yes, it's based on Dress' article, but it seems to be much easier and simplified proof. Maybe I should have written "Hopkins' article".
