Dec 1, 2011 at 17:40 comment added Drike Claim 1 is false as it would imply that for any group $G$ and normal subgroup $N\leq G$, any subgroup $H\leq N$ of of finite index in $N$ has a subgroup of finite index which is normal in $G$. I can't find the mistake in the proof though.
