made more focused and about data; Post Made Community Wiki
Sep 14, 2011 at 21:09 comment added user9072 Since the request of going to meta is not followed too much, I will take the liberty to stress one to me relevant point here as well: the question is not only about advice, but also (perhaps mainly) simply about data ; regarding types of positions around the world and the respective explicit or implicit requirements on the applicant.

Sep 14, 2011 at 18:20 comment added Maurizio Monge @thierry: I was actually afraid of making a question which was too specific. But as i said i'm going to change it to a less vague one.
Sep 14, 2011 at 18:13 comment added Thierry Zell Vague. When you say overseas, can you be more specific? Are you targeting precise areas in the world (North America, South America, Asia...)? By the way, the real question here is "who would pay your salary?". Depending on the answer, you would have more or less hoops to jump through to be accepted.
Sep 14, 2011 at 18:09 comment added Maurizio Monge @quid: ok, i will clarify later.
Sep 14, 2011 at 17:58 comment added user9072 I think there is a 'hidden' question that could be good, but clarification is essential. Meta at tea.mathoverflow.net/discussion/1136/…
Sep 14, 2011 at 17:39 comment added Andrew Stacey I really don't think that MathOverflow is a suitable place for advice questions, so I'm voting to close this as "off topic". If anyone disagrees and would like to discuss this, please open a thread on meta rather than discussing it in the comments here.
