Feb 22, 2022 at 21:08 comment added David E Speyer A comment on a very old answer: Let $k$ be a field of characteristic $p$ and let $G$ be $\mathbb{A}^2_k$ as a scheme, with group operation $(x_1, y_1) \ast (x_2, y_2) = (x_1+x_2, y_1+y_2+x_1 x_2^p)$. This is not commutative, but the Lie algebra is commutative.
