My impression however, is that the Halting Problem, although the proof is indeed elementary, is conceptually very sophisticated. I think it's one of those things that people have to mull over for years to really get an appreciation for. Maybe some teachers, with some classes, could do this. But I bet that most high school students might be able to follow "every line of the proof", but they'd see it as just a trick. I'd love to be proved wrong. Maybe the same is true for Russell's paradox.
