Different people have different reasons to write appendices, and I don't really care to know them. In many instances, you could make a good guess as to what the reason was anyway. | |

First, 'there is another way' does not really contradict the assertion 'there is a standard way'; the point is that being an author of the appendix doesn't make you an author of the paper, and this should be reflected in the bib-entry. And this issue is not so unique to appendices; you face related issues when quoting a book having an editor whose chapeters were written by different authors. | |
