The points of this geometry are the 1-dimensional subspaces, the lines the 2-dimensional subspaces etc. Buildings in general are indeed known to admit a rich theory and countless deep and beautiful properties, applications and interpretations, in many fields of mathematics, such as (finite and infinite) group theory, representation theory, combinatorics, geometry, ...
