In particular, the proof by verification of or use of a universal property is very powerful. Many examples of this are in my book "Topology and Groupoids": for example in general topology (products, sums, quotients); in connection with the Seifert-van Kampen theorem; and in connection with the fundamental groupoid of an orbit space. | |
