Clark | In fact reduction to pro-$p$-groups is a key argument across Galois cohomology -- for instance even the very definition of cohomological dimension of a profinite group proceeds in this way. If one reads Serre's Galois Cohomology, one sees plenty of this. (As you may well know; the remark is for others too...) | |
