Since, $R$ is regular, $R/I$ is regular if and only if $I$ is generated by a regular system of parameters. This takes us back to the family I mention. Am I missing something here?

Feb 7, 2011 at 17:59 comment added Karl Schwede Not really worth much but certainly if $R/I$ is regular, then $I$ satisfies the condition you pointed out (because then the generators of $I$ can be made to be part of a regular sequence defining the maximal ideal).
