Feb 5, 2011 at 0:01 comment added Tom Leinster Right, no one in the UK has tenure. Google "Thatcher abolished tenure" and you will find. But this makes less difference than you might imagine, probably in part because of the relatively strong trade unions. (I mean "relative" to some other countries.) In fact I'd had a permanent-as-they-come job in the UK for several years before learning that I did not in fact have tenure.
