Timeline for Is there any correspondence between Gödel and Kreisel that supports Kreisel's observation that Gödel changed his mind about his 1938 set theory note?

point out at end of question that Godel in Wang 1974 can be viewed as correcting Davis on Godel 1938 being evidence for a nonplatonist early Godel

Jun 4 at 13:30 | comment | added | M. Solomon | There was quite a bit of discussion after Godel died about whether his Cambridge 1933 talk, 1938 set theory note, and other statements provide views of Godel that he later changed. But the Kreisel/ Mostowski comments were made during Godel’s lifetime and he apparently responded to them in the section of Wang 1974 on perception of concepts (I don’t think anyone has pointed that out yet), although partially and indirectly. If anyone has such letters I would greatly appreciate receiving them (especially if they have been translated to English) on email since this question has been closed

Jun 1 at 19:53 | comment | added | Kenneth Derus | Parsons tells you how to get your hands on the letters. Other relevant Kreisel letters are in Weingartner-Leeb.

Jun 1 at 17:54 | comment | added | David Roberts♦ | Can you check I delineated the quotes correctly? It wasn't wholly clear where at least one of them ended. Please edit to fix if it is wrong. Also, I agree this question is incredibly discursive, experts who would know don't need all the ins and outs and lengthy quotes.

May 31 at 11:45 | comment | added | M. Solomon | I just want to get my hands on such correspondence but none with kreisel appeared in Godel’s collected works. Maybe in Firestone or in Kreisel’s literary estate. I think this is an important question for anyone interested in Godel’s intellectual history and epistemology

May 31 at 1:25 | comment | added | M. Solomon | I apologize for all the lengthy quotes but I think we have to look at Godel’s own words. I posted all the quotes to show why I think finding such letters could be very important.
