Maybe with an analogy (for $x$ near $1$) with $x^{-1} = (1 - (1-x))^{-1} \approx 1 + (1 - x) = 2 - x$ (or $x^{-1} = (1 + (x-1))^{-1} \approx 1 - (x-1) = 2 - x$)? | |
