The actual definition is $\mathbb{C}\otimes T = T^{(1,0)}_a\oplus T^{(0,1)}_a$, where $T^{(1,0)}_a = \{ v - i\,av\ |\ v\in T\}$ and $T^{(0,1)}_a = \{ v + i\,av\ |\ v\in T\}$.
