| Aug 21 at 13:53 | comment | added | Joe Silverman | A propos multiplicative versus logarithmic heights, and Fano varieties versus abelian varieites, I chatted with Manin about this one time that he gave a seminar talk. My view was that Fano varieties have "too many points", while Manin's view was that abelian varieties have "too few points" (since his talk was about Manin's conjecture). But we agreed that we did not like the number of points on K3 surfaces, since neither height counting function seems to give an interesting formula. Maybe a "Goldilocks mathematician" would say that K3 surfaces have "just the right number of points??" :) | |
