Nov 6, 2010 at 23:52 comment added Thierry Zell Indeed it would not be unusual to have algorithms that work assuming hard conjectures: it seems common enough in number theory to assume the generalized Riemann Hypothesis, for instance. My understanding is that Schanuel's conjecture is held to be plausible, however I don't know that it has received the kind of experimental validation that other conjectures have.
