Let me mention that Souslin's Hypothesis (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suslin's_problem) is the assertion that the statement remains correct even when the word separable is weakened to the assertion that every family of pairwise disjoint intervals is countable. This hypothesis is independent of ZFC. | |
