Nov 6, 2009 at 1:26 comment added Kim Morrison I haven't read this, but while the hydrogen atom is a wonderful place to start, it's not where most of today's mathematicians will want to! It's great for learning about spherical harmonics ... I initially learnt a lot of "quantum chemistry" (ie, learn everything there is to know about hydrogen, then helium, then berrylium, etc) even before I knew much maths. I thought it was fun at the time, but I think I wouldn't enjoy it now!
