Aug 28, 2022 at 7:25 comment added Jochen Wengenroth Right, it is rather the anti-diagonal. The open unit ball of the quotient norm is always the image of the open unit ball under the quotient map. I do not claim that the statement is immediate (one still has to determine the unit ball of $V\oplus V$).
Aug 26, 2022 at 15:17 comment added Iosif Pinelis @JochenWengenroth : I understand that $\Delta:=\{(v,-v)\colon v\in V\}$, right? Also, does $\|\cdot\|_+$ being the quotient norm immediately imply the desired characterization of the unit $\|\cdot\|_+$-ball?

Aug 26, 2022 at 6:57 comment added Jochen Wengenroth This is the quotient norm of $V\cong (V\oplus V)/\Delta$ where $\Delta$ is the diagonal and $V\oplus V$ is the direct sum with the norm $\|(v_1,v_2)\|=\|v_1\|_1+\|v_2\|_2$.
