It certainly makes sense to call this a form of energy - and note that in the example of the "Critters" cellular automaton this becomes the actual conserved cell count, so arguably generalizes such. And it makes intuitive sense too, to think that a glider gun contains an infinite amount of potential energy. It's just that, as you say, it's not useful for doing CGoL "physics". | |
