Jan 25, 2022 at 17:14 comment added Marco Golla In fact, once you fix $q$ (whether it's 1 or 42 or 404), it's going to be the same $q$ for each longitude. This $q$ just measures how many times the slope you choose meets the meridian, so it is independent of the basis.
