The result holds for the long line (which, by a result of Peter Nyikos, has $2^{\aleph_{1}}$ non-diffeomorphic smoothings on it) since if $L$ is the long line, then every continuous function $f:L\rightarrow\mathbb{R}$ is eventually constant. | |
