I have started reading "Dialogues on Mathematics" by Alfréd Rényi, I find it very enlightening as it gets one engaged in asking deep essential questions about foundational concepts and definitions of mathematics, as well as rooting out pretentions to understanding, automatic thoughts, ambiguity and inconsistencies. In short, it emphasizes the importance of curiosity and the importance of Socratic questioning in stimulating deep thinking and understanding. | |
