The book that I was checking my results from doesn't quite have the result that I needed, but had two results that chained together did, and one of them needed simply connected, so I put it in to be safe. | |

Indeed, it is true for any pair of fibrant-cofibrant objects in a model category. The fibrant-cofibrant objects of $\operatorname{CGWH}$ with the Quillen model structure (weak equivalences = weak homotopy equivalences) are (if I remember correctly) CW complexes with no connectivity assumption. | |
