Moreover, by going into detail and not just waving some big representability theorem, this pre-empts fears/suspicions of circularity in constructions.
Sep 21, 2010 at 21:26 comment added Yemon Choi My own hazy recollection is that Freyd's aphorism was along the following lines: "category theory performs the service of showing that trivially true things are trivially true for trivial reasons." I'm sure someone can come along to correct us.
