I have a couple of remarks: (1) In the ramified case one does not have (as far I can see) an epimorphism $\pi_1(X) \to G$, but an epimorphism $\pi_1(X-B) \to G$, where $B$ is the branch locus. Are you sure that your reduction to the étale case is correct in this respect, or am I missing something? (2) Do you have a reference for the result on "Galois theory of the fundamental group" that you quote in the proof of equivalence $(1)-(3)$? | |
