Jul 19, 2020 at 11:45 comment added Sam Nead Ah, I was under the impression that the is_isomorphic_to tried to find a combinatorial isomorphism of Dirichlet domains (and finding the Dirichlet domains uses floating point). Thank you for the correction.

My only quibble is I think Ian's answer is actually a proof because snappy is recording that it found a homeomorphism between drilled manifolds. I gave a simple version of how this can work below. Snappy's methods are a little more robust, by considering drillings of both manifolds, drilling more curves, etc. In some sense, it all comes down to checking that two triangulations are isomorphic, but with the drilled ones, you want to check how that isomorphism of triangulations affects the boundary curves.
