Mar 16, 2020 at 18:24 comment added Clark Kimberling Aaron, the second option - to start with positions and return the position of the sum, perhaps without ever finding the numbers in the positions. If a closed form isn't available, then bounds on the number of algorithm steps may be of interest.
Mar 15, 2020 at 17:20 comment added Aaron Meyerowitz Are you looking for something that starts with 37 and returns that the position is (6,3) or something that starts with (2,3) AND (3,6) and returns that the position is (6,3)... perhaps without ever finding 11,26 and 37?
