Corrected example 1.
Jul 21, 2020 at 1:13 comment added benblumsmith In Example 1, it's not the case that any transposition and any 4-cycle generate $S_4$. E.g. $(1234)$ and $(13)$ generate a copy of $D_4$. So the corresponding conjugates of $K$ and $L$ should meet in a degree 3 extension of $k$. (So the tempting belief is still plausible, especially since $12\cdot 6 / 3 = 24$...)
