Oct 27, 2019 at 8:40 comment added Zach Teitler So in other words you are saying that the vector $(\alpha^2,\alpha\beta,\beta^2,-\gamma^2,-\gamma\delta,-\delta^2)$ is in the kernel of the matrix. Since the $\alpha,\beta,\gamma,\delta$ are cubic in the vectors $v_1,v_2,v_3$, this explains the degree $6$ polynomials.
