Infinitesimal and first-order deformations are not the same thing; in fact, an infinitesimal deformation is a deformation over Spec($A$), where $A$ is an Artinian local $k$-algebra, whereas a first-order deformation corresponds to the special case $A=k[\epsilon]/(\epsilon^2)$.
