Jul 27, 2010 at 22:50 comment added S. Carnahan Minor aside: If you're working mod p, it might be necessary to work mod $p^2$ instead of over mod p dual numbers. More generally, one might consider the spectra of artinian local rings as fat points or "spaces of small wiggles".
