Mar 9, 2018 at 15:45 | comment | added | Nicholas Kuhn | I am assuming you are working with coefficients in a field $\mathbb F$. Your statement that `This holds' when $H$ is a maximal torus of a compact connected Lie group is possibly not true if the characteristic of $\mathbb F$ divides the order of the Weyl group. For example, this fails with $\mathbb F = \mathbb F_2$ and $G=SO(3)$ (so $H=SO(2)$). | |
