Feb 1, 2018 at 14:39 comment added Mike Shulman Lax things are always much more different from strict ones than pseudo ones are, so if the reader is familiar with the word "lax" I don't think there should be a problem (and if they aren't, this is a good opportunity to get familiar with it (-: ).
Feb 1, 2018 at 8:57 comment added Simon Henry @MikeShulman : I do prefer "descriptive" name over "mathematician" name in general, but in this specific case one can also argue that the source of the confusion was calling them 'idempotent'. This is a lax version of a property which happens to be equivalent to idempotent but in a non trivial way. So I'm not entirely sure "lax idempotent" is the best choice, but I don't have a good alternative.
