The second part of your answer is what I had in mind, but could not phrase well (additional notation was intended to relate to OP's formulation, but just made my argument look less trivial than it truly was). The breaking up was done mostly for convenience of visualizing, but note that your prisms based on facets (which I misnamed "cylinders") overlap in the interior of the polytope, so the argument with cones is just a bit cleaner. I have corrected the terminology and included a reference to your answer. | |
