In this paper by Siu-Mostow math.harvard.edu/~siu/siu_reprints/siu_mostow_paper1982.pdf , they construct examples of complex surface with negative sectional curvature, but not covered by balls. In another paper by Siu-Yang math.harvard.edu/~siu/siu_reprints/… , there is a conjecture that "if a complex surface exists a KE metric with negative sectional curvature, then it should be uniformized by balls". | |
