Apr 12, 2017 at 19:38 comment added Jason Starr Associated to the natural torus action of $\mathbb{G}_m^2$ on $\mathbb{P}^2$, there is an induced action of $\mathbb{G}_m^2$ on the Hilbert scheme. There are finitely many fixed points of this action. The associated Bialynicki-Birula cells form a free basis for the Chow group.
