Nov 26, 2016 at 16:21 comment added Charles Rezk Presumably $n$ is even, and $f$ should have non-zero Hopf invariant.
Nov 26, 2016 at 16:20 comment added David C François Ziegler the Hopf-invariant is defined for any continuous map $S^{2n-1}\rightarrow S^{n}$ it is defined in terms of the cohomology algebra of the homotopy cofiber $C_f$ of $f$. Thus I think the question works fine for any continuous map.
Nov 26, 2016 at 15:41 comment added Francois Ziegler What is this map $f$?
