Oct 15, 2015 at 15:40 comment added André Henriques Maybe what you need is to talk to other people in your field. You could ask your advisor to suggest other people who will be interested in these kind of questions, and then you could arrange to travel in order to go meet them.

Oct 15, 2015 at 15:20 comment added Peter @PiyushGrover I think that is important for me, since I think, we have physical issues, we want to model and solve this in maths, that's the motivation of PDE methods.
Oct 15, 2015 at 15:15 comment added Peter @WillieWong Yep, 2 was deleted. And I added some descriptions about the things I have done so far.

Oct 15, 2015 at 14:19 comment added Piyush Grover Maybe the issue is that your advisor doesn't think that 'applicability to real world physics' is important for posing research questions ? It wouldn't be a surprise if that is the case.
Oct 15, 2015 at 13:55 comment added Willie Wong Your question 2 is really out of scope of this site. You should ask it at academia.stackexchange.com. Your question 1 is a math question, however. Can you please edit your post to remove all the non-mathematical parts, and at the same time give a bit more information about the mathematical bits (in particular, why are you looking at cases with restricted test functions? Where did this idea come from? Do you know any existing references using this technique?)
