May 13, 2011 at 1:13 comment added roy smith I don't know this book but do have a good experience with other books by this author. I recall him as extremely, almost uniquely, user friendly.

Apr 20, 2010 at 23:23 comment added Dan Petersen Seconded, this is one of the best undergraduate math books I have read, period. Of course it depends on the size of the class -- a hundred students would not be able to find copies of this book, for instance. But there are quite a few copies at e.g. alibris.co.uk/…

Apr 20, 2010 at 15:54 comment added Kim Morrison You're right: I should have just edited (which I've done now). I just wanted to call attention to the fact that all caps on the internet is generally interpreted as shouting, and so inappropriate here. I wouldn't shout at tea, so you probably shouldn't shout here. Looking through the database, there are only ~5 previous examples of sentences in all caps.

Apr 16, 2010 at 3:57 comment added The Mathemagician I'm sure there are enough copies floating around online to use it for a course,Nate.Probably cheap, too.
Apr 15, 2010 at 21:47 comment added Nate Eldredge This is out of print and so is probably unsuitable as a textbook for a course, unless your university bookstore director says otherwise.
