Aug 11, 2015 at 8:49 comment added Goldstern $\kappa+1$ usually means $\kappa\cup \{\kappa\}$, or in order theoretic terms: the order of $\kappa$ (viewed as an ordinal), extended by an additional top element.
Aug 11, 2015 at 8:09 comment added Nate Eldredge Is $\kappa + 1$ here meant to be the least cardinal larger than $\kappa$, or what?
Aug 11, 2015 at 8:01 comment added Eric Wofsey You really don't want to ask for $f$ to be injective, at least if you aren't putting any restrictions on $X$. If you do, then it is easy to see that $T_1$ choices of $X$ force $\kappa+1$ to be $T_1$ but non-$T_1$ choices of $X$ force $\kappa+1$ to be non-$T_1$.
